Class Information

  • Each student must complete the medical questions. If you answer YES to any of the questions, you MUST have a doctor sign off on you prior to ANY activities.
  • Each student is required to have a mask, snorkel, fins and boots. We give a 20% discount on those items when taking the Open Water Course.
  • Each student will need a Log Book for the Open Water portion of the class for the instructor to sign to sign off on.
  • All course fees are due prior to the first pool session.

Pool Sessions:

  • You will be at the pool from about 8am until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Be sure to bring snacks and drinks with you. It’s a long day.
  • Each class will need a minimum of 4 students or the pool sessions may be cancelled until a future date.
  • Each student will need to come by the shop prior to the pool session day to get fitted for gear to wear during class, ex. BCD, wetsuit, regulator, and weight belt. The student will be responsible for the gear until it is returned. Any lost or broken items will be charged to the student.
  • All equipment needs returned within 48 hours to the shop unless arrangements have been made with the instructor.

Lake Dives:

  • The lake dives are over 2 days, Saturday and Sunday generally at Summersville Lake.
  • I have an arrangement for a discounted rate at the Super 8 if you would like to spend the night.
  • There are also a couple of campgrounds nearby as well.
  • I suggest packing a cooler with snacks and drinks. We are at the lake all day.
  • There are restrooms available but no vending machines.
  • Also, I recommend a towel or two and sunscreen. (Someone always gets badly sunburned)
  • You will also have to stop by the shop the week prior to the lake dives to pick up your gear once again. It will need returned within 48 hours after the Lake dives unless arrangements are made with the Instructor.
  • If you chose to purchase your own BCD, wetsuit, etc., that is what you will wear so you can adjust to it.
  • If you have gear, it must have been inspected within the last year and fit you properly. It is the Instructor’s decision as to if it fits and is in proper working order.
  • Before we can process your certification we will need your log book filled out and signed by the instructor, your Student Record File needs signed by you, and we will need a photo of you.
